All Residents:
FYI: We have had three car break-ins last night two in the Pulte section and one in KHOV. In all cases at least one door was unlocked. I can’t emphasize enough to take a few extra seconds to make sure you ALWAYS lock ALL vehicle doors, keep garages closed and take all safety precautions the NWC Chair has passed to you time and again. Unfortunately, when we let our guard down we seem to pay the price particularly during the holiday season.
PLEASE report ANY and ALL incidents to the police non-emergency number: 703-792-6500 even if nothing was stolen.
Also please take the time to store this number in your cell phone right now.
Reminder: Do not leave your garage door opener in your car as one can gain access to your home by using it if they break into your vehicle!
As you can see below, there is a pattern and the police will be able to determine what and where to watch more closely. If you don’t report it (and let me know so I can inform everyone) then no knows what to look out for!
The best solution for this type of behavior is to get in the habit of always locking everything all the time…. Even your house doors when you are home.
Reminder about the two incidents in Hunt Chase around this time last year- one where around $20K was stolen out of the home and the other where someone tried to break in while the residents were in the home!!
You just can’t be too cautious!
I’m passing on the following details from residents:
#1:
“I just wanted to let you know we had some vandals break into our van last night in front of our house on Popes Creek Place. We came home late from our church Christmas Party with the van full of the Christmas decorations we are storing for the church, and were too tired to unload it. We didn't lock the driver's or passenger's door but the rest of the doors were locked.
This morning we walked out to find the car door open, the glove box and console open and rifled through, the few coins in the ashtray and the large box in the back missing. Fortunately, our vandals apparently decided to check out their loot before dragging it very far and decided that an artificial Christmas tree wasn't worth the effort! They left the box, opened but still intact, on the curb down the street.
Nothing of any value was taken but I wanted to let you know that it happened. We did report it and they did fingerprinting!”
#2:
“I wasn't sure if you would want to know but my car was broken into last night, nothing was stolen and nothing was broken so I did not call the police. The trunk was left open and all of the papers in the glove box were pulled out. We are on Tumble Creek Ct.”
#3
“I also heard of one more, on Ripple Stone, same thing, nothing stolen, just rummaged thru, and the door was unlocked.”
